Peace Train opens at
Dassel History Center
Eighth grade students from the Dassel-Cokato Middle School and their teacher, Arturo Cruz, have placed an art exhibit, Peace Train, at the Dassel History Center.
“Peace” is painted on freight train car drawings using an urban graffiti-style script; it is painted in many languages including Arabic, Hebrew, Latin, Ojibway, many European languages, and several Asian languages. Students signed the paintings indicating they stand for peace, tolerance and inclusion.
The train cars will travel to many schools, and new cars may be added with different languages or the same languages with a new artistic twist.
Ubah Medical Academy Charter High School in Hopkins is the next scheduled location for the exhibit, and then it goes on to schools in Omaha, Neb.
The exhibit is open now and will be at the History Center until March 31.
A reception for the artists is planned for Friday, Mar. 10 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the History Center.
