See  Boyd Hubert on Hildred Gets Her Star

The late Hildred Olson, who performed as a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland, is being celebrated in an exhibit by the Dassel Area Historical Society.  The exhibit opens Saturday, June 17, 10 am at the Dassel History Center.

Entitled Hildred Gets Her Star, the exhibit tells of Hildred’s journey from Dassel to Hollywood and back home again. Bill Ward, Paul Johnson and Tom Nelson will briefly speak about their part in the exhibit. Johnson developed a 13-minute video telling the story. The exhibit includes the video.
Following the short program, there will be the unveiling of a monument in the Dassel Cemetery where Hildred is buried. The Munchkins from the movie received their star on Hollywood Blvd.; however, Hildred had already died by that time. In honor of her participation, Hildred’s monument includes the star, thus Hildred Gets Her Star.
